Student Achievements

“Academic excellence” is one of three major components of the St. Michael Catholic School Mission along with ‘spiritual growth’ and ‘social development’.

St. Michael Catholic School is known for providing students the opportunity to achieve academic excellence. Our caring teachers and staff are dedicated to meeting students at their skill level, then assisting them to achieve academic growth to the best of their ability.

St. Michael graduates are well prepared for the academic challenges of high school. It is common for graduates to hear from high school teachers that: ‘We can always tell which students attended St. Mike’s by their academic ability, study habits and excellent behavior’.

St. Michael graduates typically comprise make up a high percentage of National Honor Society students at Prior Lake High School. Recently, over 20% of NHS students were St. Mike’s graduates while comprising approximately 6% of the total high school population.

Our students demonstrate success and high quality achievement in a variety of ways.

After two years of existence, the Chess Team placed 2nd in a regional tournament.

Graduates are eagerly admitted to area Catholic High Schools such as Holy Angels and Holy Family.

Students consistently earn top honors in art contests sponsored by Rotary International, Minnesota Middle School Association, etc.

Middle School Students are recognized by state and federal organizations for their efforts to ‘go green’ via the science curriculum.

Each year, seventh and eighth grade students achieve exceptionally well on the junior SAT and ACT tests.

A majority of students score at or above projected proficiency on our standardized Math and Reading Test (NWEA Measures of Academic Progress ‘MAP’ Test). Over 90% in reading. Over 80% in math.

St. Michael Alumni Inducted into National Honor Society

On October 22, 2009, 40 new students were inducted into the National Honor Society at Prior Lake High School. Of these students, 12 were St. Michael alumni, or 30% of the inductees. St. Michael alumni comprise only 8% of the overall high school population, so we are proud that our St. Michael alumni make up such a high percentage of the National Honor Society members.

The newest inductees from St. Michael include:
Justine Asleson, Jayme Ericson, Kaitlyn Kroyer, Joey Kemper, Danielle Ostertag, Alex Noterman, Ashley Robideau, Taylor Sammis, Julie Schweich, Kaitlyn Stamson, Baihley Warfield and Jessica Young.

Congratulations to these students for their outstanding achievements!
